Dear Booklovers,

It's time to celebrate our independence, and in July, we are going IndieBound!

Linking with this exciting community-oriented movement has brought a new indie awareness that Anderson's is delighted to share.  Independent bookstores and other indie businesses across the nation are joining forces and sharing ideas to raise the mantle of uniqueness and benefit offered by local businesses.  We invite you to join the growing consumer movement that recognizes the appeal of independent stores rather than national chains.  Every time you purchase locally, you help preserve the special qualities of our communities.

Figures from Bookselling This Week indicate that for every $100 spent at a locally-owned business, $68 stays in the community. Also noteworthy is that sales taxes are reinvested in the local community.  Buying locally conserves energy and resources in terms of less fuel for transportation, less packaging and products our local retailers stand behind.

Please watch for the bold new IndieBound logo in our stores and celebrate your independence!   Visit the IndieBound Website (simply click the IndieBound.org link below ) and add your name to the Declaration of IndieBound.

Remember that our indie pride shows in every special event we host.  And this month is no exception with authors for all interests.  Please join us soon.

Yours in books,
Your friends at Anderson's
