Books for Troops

Anderson's is proud to work with Operation Support Our Troops: America supporting their Books for Troops program! 

Our Books For Troops program began in June 2011, after an author signing with National Book Award-winning author Jeanne Birdsall. Jeanne mentioned that her nephew, then serving with the 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan, enjoyed reading in his rare downtime, but had run out of books. Our customers immediately responded with donations and our bookseller Erin Keables, took it upon herself to find a sponsoring organization so we could launch an official program. Since that time, in partnership with Operation Support Our Troops, we have sent thousands of books to active service members, thanks to the generosity of our customers. 

We are the only supplier of books to Operation Support Our Troops. They send hundreds of care boxes each month, packed with donation items from generous donors, like you! We aim to deliver books that are entertaining and uplifting. Books are carefully selected and avoid topics such as religion, politics and war. Our goal is to express appreciation for their service, and help lift morale and promote well-being.

How you can support this program: 

Make a donation in any amount!  -  You can do this online with the Books for Troops Donation below. Choose your donation amount and add it to your shopping cart. You can also donate in person at Naperville or Downers Grove stores using cash, charge, or check, which we will use to purchase books in bulk at cost.

Occasionally we also have books on display to choose and purchase yourself. These carefully selected titles for donation will be discounted at the register.
