M.T. Anderson

Tuesday, November 14th at 7:00 PM
Anderson’s Bookshop Naperville

Award winning author M.T. Anderson shares his new book for teens, Landscape with Invisible Hand as well as discusses his previous book Symphony for the City of the Dead, accompanied by members of the Chicago Sinfonietta Quartet!

Dmitri Shostakovich wrote his 8th String Quartet as a secret summation of his life, and also as a piece dedicated to the victims of Fascism and oppression. It is simultaneously a work that is deeply moving, one of the masterpieces of 20th century music, and yet intriguingly cryptic.  Members of the Chicago Sinfonietta will perform the work in its entirety, and National Book Award-winning author M. T. Anderson will discuss the stories told about the piece and the disputes about the codes that Shostakovich — unable to speak frankly in a regime of fear — hid in its pages.

This event is free and open to the public. To join the signing line, please purchase the author's latest book, Landscape With Invisible Hand, from Anderson's Bookshop. To purchase please stop into or call Anderson's Bookshop Naperville (630) 355-2665 or order below.
